Party of Five

I haven't been watching much of anything lately but after finally finishing The Office, over the weekend I got around to watching the first episode-and-a-half of Party of Five. I was always intrigued by this show when it was on, probably because of my penchant for teen melodrama and, well, who's not curious about the logistics of five orphans raising themselves? I found out that it's really boring. How are we going to find/pay for a nanny, though we have a seemingly endless fount of money from our dead parents? Why is Julia such a dork? How can their parents' restaurant still possibly be open? I found Bailey to be like nails on a chalkboard, and my fiance lost interest as soon as he realized that Jennifer Love Hewitt isn't (I think) in the first season at all. I turned it off halfway through the second episode and still haven't decided if I'm going to give it another shot.

On deck? Dexter, Havoc, and In the Land of Women (which I added to my queue only in a fit of mourning about the end of The OC).

I have never been a huge party of five fan. It seemed to be the show that encouraged other teen melodrama shows like Dawson's Creek and the OC. However in my teen years I too was very into Jennifer Love Hewitt. So she would be my only motivation for watching the show.

Dexter Rocks....I am so hooked on that show. The first season is great...you should skip POF and go right to Dexter.

I don't think you'll be sorry.

WOW! I loved Party of Five! Ironically I posted something about Party Of Five the same day as you on my blog [scifimusings.blogspot.com], but I have much more adoration for the series. Anyway, I think you should give it a chance. I just finished the Season 1 box set and I'll tell you what, it got better and better. So many people, like the executives, never give shows a chance. The executives axe them and viewers complain. POF got some Golden Globe awards and went for 6 seasons for a reason. It was damn good! I like your blog!

Dexter is good. I'll second that (or whatever). Californication is terrific!

In the Land of Women, well, if you are really missing Adam Brody, it may scratch the itch. I found the movie very slow and only partly interesting. I got bored a few times but never enough to turn it off. His relationships with these women is interesting and I had to know how it ended. Overall I was satisfied, and you probably will be too. That is less than a stellar review but ... a movie worth watching if that's what your looking for.

Cheers!
Matt

I actually was a big fan of this one for the first few seasons... I guess it was some of the old Beveryly Hills 90210 itch in me to see the teen drama stuff. It quickly derails as soon as every problem under the sun occurs to the family.. pregnancy, drugs, alcoholism, domestic violence, pregnant strippers
