Stephen King's The Mist

I have been waiting for this for years--it's only the best Stephen King short story, with possibly one of the top ten best endings of any short story. And the fact that Frank Darabont is directing bodes well in King-adaptation-land.

This movie will burn the husk from my soul. With awesomeness.

I'm excited about it too. This is story I always think about when it's very foggy outside. But when I try to talk about it to people, they think I'm talking about John Carpenter's The Fog.

Marcia Gay Harden is just about as cool now in my book as Jennifer Connelly...a "serious" actress who does horror movies. Awesomeness.

I found out about this movie about 5 weeks ago and I'm shaking with excitement. The Mist was the only story of his I have ever read that has ever made me scared to go to sleep at night. (That and 'Salem's Lot freaked me out too.)

I'm not sure if I'm more excited to see the Mist or AVP2. I haven't made up my mind yet.

Hon, I hate to tell you this, but I think you should know, as you sound just like me in so much as we have both waited so bloody long for this one to make it to the screen...you wrote that 'it's only the best Stephen King short story, with possibly one of the top ten best endings of any short story.'...Darabont CHANGED THE ENDING. I too, LOVED the 'Hartford/hope' wrap up, but just be ready...this NEW ending sure as hell is NOT that...siiigh...oh well, it seems that Darabont got the REST of it down pat...but this alteration to the ending is just terrible...
